Mobile’s Cruise Boom: Two Ships Sailing This Month! | American Symphony & Carnival Spirit (2026)

Mobile's Cruise Dreams Are Finally Coming True: Two Ships Set to Sail This Month

Mobile, Alabama, is about to embark on a new era of cruising, with two cruise lines set to sail from the city's cruise terminal this month. This marks a significant milestone for the city, as it fulfills a long-held vision of having multiple ships operating from its port.

The first ship to arrive is the American Symphony, a luxury riverboat operated by American Cruise Lines. It will make its debut on March 6, 2026, as part of its inaugural Gulf Coast itinerary. This eight-day, one-way journey will take passengers from New Orleans to Pensacola, with a 12-hour stop in Mobile. Fares for this voyage range from $4,065 to $5,300 per person.

The American Symphony, built in 2022, is one of American Cruise Lines' modern Mississippi riverboats, with a capacity of 180 passengers. It will visit Mobile three more times in March and again in November and December, concluding the 2026 cruise season. Bookings for 2027 are already underway, indicating a strong interest in this new route.

This arrival coincides with the sailings of the Carnival Spirit, which is offering seasonal cruises from Mobile. The city's officials have been promoting this development as a historic first for Mobile, with former Mayor Sandy Stimpson stating that it will be the first time in the city's history that two cruise ships from separate companies will be docked in Mobile with passengers at the same time.

The future looks even brighter for Mobile's cruising industry. Next year, Carnival Cruise Line will bring back year-round service to the city with the arrival of the Carnival Valor. This massive ship, measuring 952 feet and with a capacity for nearly 3,000 guests and 1,180 crew members, will be the largest cruise ship to homeport in Mobile since cruising began there in 2004. The Carnival Valor's inaugural cruise from Mobile is set for May 15, 2027.

Mobile's cruise terminal is truly becoming a hub for cruising, with two cruise lines operating this month and the promise of more to come. This development is a testament to the city's efforts to attract tourism and boost its economy through the cruising industry.
