Cookies Policy

Checin cookies policy: we use no advertising or analytics cookies. One local storage entry for the saved-articles feature.

Last updated: June 2026.

What Checin stores in your browser

Checin currently uses no advertising, no analytics, and no social-media cookies. The only browser-side storage we use is a strictly-necessary item:

  • Saved-articles list. If you click the bookmark icon on any article, that article’s slug is added to a list in your browser’s localStorage under the key checin.saved. This is local to your browser, never transmitted to our servers, and you can clear it any time from your browser’s site-settings page.

What we do not use

  • No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no AdSense.
  • No third-party A/B testing scripts.
  • No social-media “like” or “share” widgets that profile you.
  • No remarketing or behavioral-advertising cookies.

Server logs

Like any web server, our hosting provider records technical access logs (IP address, page URL, user-agent, timestamp). These are not cookies, and they are described in our Privacy Policy.

If we add cookies in the future

If at some point we add optional analytics (for example a privacy-respecting tool like Plausible or self-hosted Umami), we will:

  • Update this page with the cookie name, purpose, and retention.
  • Display a consent banner on first visit, in compliance with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR Art. 6.
  • Not load the script until consent is given.
